You will need
1 bowl, food blender or food processor, measuring cup, mixing cup, pot, whisk, sauce boat
Ingredients for the vanilla sauce
For 4 servings, 1 serving = 65 ml (0 g of sugar)
4 dates
150 ml water
250 ml milk
1 vanilla bean
6 g cornstarch

If this recipe is not sweet enough for you, you can use more dates. If this recipe is too sweet for you, you can of course reduce the amount of dates.
It’s best to soak the dates overnight.
Preparation
Step 1:
Place 4 dates in a bowl and cover with 150 ml of water. It is best to soak overnight, but at least 2 hours covered in the fridge.

Step 2:
Drain the soaked dates and transfer them to a mixing cup. Add 250 ml of milk and blend until smooth using a food blender or food processor.

Step 3:
Pour the milk-date mixture into a pot. Scrape out a vanilla bean and add the seeds. Add 6 g of cornstarch and stir until the cornstarch is fully dissolved.

Step 4:
Bring the milk mixture to a brief boil while stirring continuously, then remove from the heat. Pour into a sauce boat and serve.

The vanilla sauce pairs perfectly with apple turnovers or apple crumble. You can find both recipes on the Neatic website.
